This is Home

Fiery laughter
pulses through the veins
of the sky.
Trees like black spider webs
weave their branches
through the canopy.
The landscape waves,
mirroring an identical twin
in the water.
The pool flickers,
winking its effervescent eyes.
Slabs of scorching clouds
veil the muddy darkness.
As the sky grows dim,
the sun squints my way,
as I sweep the water
with my fingertips.
Stars glimmer,
bathing the rest of the world
in an unsteady glow.
I dream of castles,
with damsels in distress.
I dream of fancy parties,
with music
sweeter than honey.
But nothing compares to this.
And I know this is home.
