Starting Anew

The door opened and I ran.
I mean, I first took a few steps
Before looking behind at the devious man.
But yet it started when I ran.

As the hands on the clock rewind,
I think I'm the poor treatment endured
As I thoughtlessly lost my mind
To the people I deemed to be kind.

I ran.

The sound of feet echoed back
And, as I ran I knew that,
He could never force me to turn back,
And live a life that life can lack.

I do admit that maybe his words,
The ones that boomed like tweeting birds,
Had truth in its origins and I
Should have learned that hid words weren't only words.

It should have been obvious
When they told me I had to pay,
Pay for the privileged while
He was being His dodgiest.

I ran.
I ran from the devious man
Who now stood weak in His place.
Because I, I became the victorious man.
