Relax
Wind glides across the water, dancing
like the glimmering stars above the mountain ridge.
Below I sat in the field of flowers,
a sweet aroma of maple tree sap
like the glimmering stars above the mountain ridge
fluttering around my nose,
a sweet aroma of maple tree sap.
Inhale slowly.
Fluttering around my nose
a musky, fresh cloud.
Inhale slowly.
the tastes like clear, clean rain
puddles on my tongue.
Below I rest in the field of flowers.
Exhale slower.
Wind glides across the water, dancing.

As a 18 year old about to graduate from Wahkiakum High School, Amber Silva is spending her last couple months in Washington going on adventures in nature before she moves to go to college at Cal State San Marcos. She recently discovered that she sincerely enjoys expressing her interactions and experiences with nature through poetry. Her poem entitled “Relax” was written to stimulate her readers senses and make their mind travel to a peaceful happy place. Amber is inspired by the positive feedback she has received from this poem and will write about her adventures in nature more in the future.
