Depression

Movies and baseball
Not a care in the world
The more jazz, the better
Parties and booze helped
The pain of the war disappear

Growth was everywhere
Economy boomed
Even if you didn’t have money,
Living in America made you rich
The damage of the war was left on the other side
And we were left partying

Everything became black
Sudden and unexpected
Millions left with nothing
The ones we trusted had let us down
Crashing into a depression

No booze left to drown our sorrows in
No jazz to block out the cries of hunger
No parties to distract from our boredom
No movies to dream of a better life
No more of anything
