First Time for Everyhting

I saw you first then in my mind I claimed you
I knew you had to be mine
There was nothing you could do

Your eyes, bright blue
Your hair a brown mess
Your smile illuminated you

This was the first time
The first day
For the rhythm and rhyme
The first time for everything

Everything felt so new
When I was with you
You were mine and I planned on keeping you for all time

This was my first time
My first new day
As being someone I truly am
There’s always a first time for everything

I didn’t have to pretend
No more lies
No more holding it in
There is always a first time for everything

I can be who I am
Who  want to be
I don’t have to hide from you
I can let you see the real me

There’s a first time for everything
I let most of them get away
Don’t give up on anything
Don’t let anything get in your way
