Sonnet To My Roommate

And then I finally found my shelter
a home, a cell perhaps in a level
Like hell, it’s filled with mess, makes me swelter
The room I share alone with the devil

At night while I’m asleep he lays awake
Aside him burns a mocking ball of light
I hear his pencil hissing like a snake
While I cover and hope it does not bite

And yet we share this shell with truce, in peace
This balance is for both of us a drain
But when the door’s open by the police
I calmly smile, I don’t ever complain

For if I take a closer look to see
I realize that he is just like me
