I wont fall down today
The ground will not have the pleasure
Of tearing into rice paper skin
Of spilling blood onto the blank black canvas
Of the drive way
This meeting
Of flesh and floor
Is not one that is unknown to me
My elbows and knees have made the acquaintance
Of the course gravel
Many times
Not today though
Not ever again
That budding friendship
Will have to be cut short
I will no longer drag my feet and advert my eyes
Always the motions that prelude the fall
I will look head on
Concentrate
I wont fall
I wont even tremble
