the quiet
March 1, 2017
it inspires me when
the silence
is shattered
by the soft-spoken
when the voices rise up
from the violence
from the battered
from the broken
for the greatest of strengths
we can gather
to protect us
in our riot
is not those who yell loudest
but rather
to connect us
those they kept quiet.
