The fairy garden

I remember the sunlit days
Where we ran through the fairy garden
And breathed the crisp mountain air
Life stopped and stood, in the fairy garden

We ran through the fairy garden,
Skipping rocks over the crystal clear water
In the fairy garden, life stopped and stood
And our friendship floated peacefully

Skipping rocks over the crystal clear water
Our feet padded the soft muffling moss
Our friendship floated peacefully
As we breathed the silent seclusion

Our feet padded the soft muffling moss
Before the water became smoky
And breathing the silent seclusion
We inhaled mildewed clothing and candy wrappers

Before the water became smoky
We used to live in peace
The scent of mildewed clothing and candy wrappers
Overtook the fairy garden

We used to live in peace
Before the garden became a graveyard of demolished trees
Overtaking the fairy garden
With tangled milkweed and red clay

Before the garden became a tomb of demolished trees
Our friendship ran forever
But with tangled milkweed and red clay
It simply melted away

When our friendship ran forever
We picked the immobile flowers
But it melted away
Into ruin

We picked the immobile flowers
But their petals frayed
Into ruin
But, I remember the sunlit days
