My throat is tight because words I want to say
Can’t find their way out,
And the breaking is too much for me to think about.
So I pretend it’s not happening.
As I kill hours and waste daylight,
I cast my mind away from you.
I try not to wonder where you are and if I will see you
Because sometimes, we are not the people we think we are.
And I don’t want to disappoint you
The way I disappoint myself.
