Stand and Rise

By , Eaton, CO

The world was dark
and all messed up,
everything was a half-empty cup
There was no sun,
no light, no day,
but still everyday I bowed and prayed
But why was this,
why do such a thing,
why would requests to God I bring
Blackness had consumed it all,
darkness took us at the Fall
We sit and drawl out words all day,
we go to church and senselessly pray
Where is the Church,
where is it now,
rise up and stand,
fall down and bow
The darkness came,
so here it is,
so pray now and His feet kiss
We must stand,
must shine a light,
in our fire there mustn't be night
