A Person Turns

July 28, 2016

A person turns,

as a flower fades,
and likewise darkness invades
You had seen them many times before,
golden beautiful,
but now it seems that blackness grips their soul
After that sad turning,
you saw in it great learning
Sometimes you would speak to them,
but most times you’d just listen,
and sometimes they would break your heart
for the good that had been ridden
Your soul would long for them to turn,
as once before they had,
and your mind would likewise yearn for them,
urging them to leave that place of dark and sad
You called to God every night,
pleading for turning back to light
You’ve fought through tears and frustration,
and thought of times of elation
And now you still turn your face and pray,
listening, listening, to what God may say
