Back From War

She Hobbled Up The Brick Walkway
Eyesight Blurred By Her Tears

A Pause Before The Door Is Opened
Then She Sees Him. Her Soldier

Neither Ancient Nor Frail
He Lies Still, Dressed In All His Glory

As When He First Proclaimed His Love To Her
No Other Being Can See What She Holds In Her Heart

No Person Or Object Can Part This Warm Feeling,
Entwined, Hearts That Were Able To Beat In Symmetry

A Sigh Escapes Her Lips As She Whispers His Name
She Says Softly, "You Were Not Forgotten."
