"If I wasn't an actor, I would have been a secret agent." - Thornton Wilder

My crystal bowl sparkles,
Polished, clean, and dry.
No fingerprints on my bowl –
No one else’s, only mine.
Sitting untouched in the window,
One day a change occurs.
The weather changes, rain moves in –
Suddenly the world’s a blur
As my bowl fills up with water.
I can empty it, but still
Droplets of water will remain
Naturally; against its will.
I can put things in my bowl –
More fingerprints do stain.
Only mine, until he comes.
On the papers a new name.
One day when coming home
Keys clink inside my bowl.
The sharp sound is jeering;
The splashing sound is slow.
His keys clink every night,
Pulled out each morning when he leaves.
New fingerprints upon my bowl,
But only I can see.
