Adolescent Anthem

We have not yet lived but will live again,
Not immortals and yet forever we shall reign,
Less than gods yet more than mortal men.

We are fools that believe themselves to be wisemen,
Psychedelic hallucinations, we flit by wanton death,
We have not yet lived but will live again.

We are demons that sob and weep an amen,
Uncontrollable we dance in the flames of mistaken youth,
Less than gods yet more than mortal men.

We are the fears and hopes of now and then,
Brutus and Caesar, confidence and tragedy,
We have not yet lived but will live again.

We are music that drips from the soul like rain,
Magical and useless forms, we gyrate as eternal as starlight,
Less than gods yet more than mortal men.

I am yours, forever and then,
You are mine, our bond beyond the stretch of time,
We have not yet lived and will live again,
Less than gods, but more than mortal men.

This is Villanelle. It took quite a while to do, but I wanted something that got across a feeling of what it can be like being  teen.
