I?ll sleep under this melting sun
So wake me gently when the darkness comes
There?s time enough for now (let it run?)

Wait patiently once the day has begun
Too many have told me what I could become
I’ll sleep under this melting sun

There’s plenty to do while the days are young
But I’ll wait to pick the ripest of plums
There’s time enough for now (let it run?)

12 o’ clock gone, my body grows numb
Counting the breaths that escape from my lungs
I’ll sleep under this melting sun

I’ll stand up, catch the light before it is done
Captured minutes echoed by finger strums
There’s time enough for now (let it run?)

Smothered by its veil the darkness has won
Sand has run out, I can only succumb
I’ll sleep under this melting sun
There’s time enough for now (let it run

This villanelle style poem was written as a way for me to release my anxiety and fear on a certain topic, but I hope that it can be perceived and interpreted in different ways that can be meaningful to different people.

I liked it...but please check your apostrophes. They're question marks. (Please take time to read/comment/like on my poems and love stories; thanks. I'll make sure to check out your other eriting as well. Happy writing!)
