To My Hero, the Big Mac

Possibly America's funniest man
to funny for words
You were sadly take from us by God's hand
Your wife and daughter by your side in that lonely hospital ward

The word had their fingers crossed at your last breath
and sadly, their hero had to go

A call at 7am alerted me about your death
on the news was your trademark smile and mini fro
all reporters saying that you have left

You were taken from us when you were at the top of your game
Lung disease and pneumonia were to blame
The vicious attack took away the Big Mac
No, not Mcdonalds
The Original King of Comedy, Bernie Mac
Rest In Peace

The author's comments:
This is a poem about a hero of mine. The Late Bernie Mac.
He passed away this summer and if there was anyone more devastated by this it was me. I grew up watching Bernie Mac and to hear that he has died just breaks my heart. I wrote this based on what happened the day I heard the tragic news. R.I.P Bernie Mac
Enjoy.
