I See You

When I look at your mouth I see
your lips curled into a smile and
I See You

I look at your face and I see
a beauty that couldn't be made with human hands but
I See You

I look down at your gentle hands and
notice that they are rough from hard work and though I only see your hands
I See You

I scan the strength in your shoulders and I see you have carried heavy burdens. I don't only see your burdens
I See You

But when I look into your eyes

When I look into your eyes

I don't see your soul or love or kindness
I don't even see something cold and fierce
I See Nothing

When I look into your eyes
I See Nothing

I See You

This is one of my first free verse poems and the first alternative piece I've done. Many people will understand the poem and many will not. This poem means whatever you want it to mean. But I what it means to me.
