Ruins

Slowly sinking
Softly falling
Winds stirring
Fountains pouring
Over onto unpaved roads

Hooves beating
Un-trodden ground
Steadily climbing
Not a sound

The silent roar of the mountains
The desperate unheard screams of the wind
Passion like a raging fire
Burns the silent hills within

To stand and touch
The ageless stone
The timeless tree
The ever restless sea

The mighty empire
Fixed upon a silent hill
In awe and majesty
For all to gaze in wonder

The ruins of crumbled stone
And windswept ash
Strewn upon the moonlit plains

Tears unshed
For days unlived
Caught beneath the watchers gaze

The breath before untimely plunge
The leap before the fall
What no one heeded
No one wanted
Would some how come to all

The light of redemption
To bring the mighty to their knees
The thrones of glory
Shattered and over
Upon the plains

Slowly sinking
Softly falling
Winds stirring
Fountains pouring
Over onto unpaved roads

The author's comments:
Writing to music always produces my most passionate work. I've found that listening to "epic" instrumental music influences me the most. I like to listen to lyric-less music I have never heard before when I write, because un-altered creativity often flows out of first impressions and first emotions.
