Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die today

You walk along the streets every day
Looking at billboards and ads
They tell what to buy at the store
What color, shirt, or bag.

Every makeup company lies to you
Saying your skin has to be fair
You legs long, waist slim,
and a waterfall of blonde hair

They take a picture of a girl
and transform her into a doll
They make her unrealistic
To slim, to busty, to tall

Girls look up to those posters
saying "That's who I want to be"
But the truly sad part is that girl,
is not who they really see.

That girl that they changed has pimples
Her eyes are five times smaller
she has a gap between her teeth
her waist is two sizes larger

She has bruises on her knees
from falling off her bike
She loves adventure and laughing
But it's her body she doesn't like

Those girls they changed are people
They have stories and a family
But instead they are sculpted and molded
To fit a fake fantasy

What's wrong with being yourself?
Who told you that you're wrong?
Who said that you were imperfect?
That your arms were just to long?

Who said your eyes are to green?
Or that mole just has to go
Who said that you're just to heavy?
That you have to put on a show

The pressure that some young girls feel
to fit in, is just to great
They don't smile and laugh like they should,
themselves they start to hate

They can't be like that photo
They shouldn't, it's not real
But in their minds they have to be size two
so they plan to skip the next meal

They cut and harm their bodies
Take pills for anxiety
They cry and hide behind makeup
as a result of society

It's so cliche to say this
But beauty is on the inside
We have to look beyond the outward image
and in ourselves with have to take pride

We are better than those images
We are prettier than those lies
We don't have to fit in with everyone

And zero is not a size!

Don't look at those billboards
Go a day without foundation
Smile and laugh at the world
and all it's imperfect creations

Makeup companies are rich
They have come really far
But they'd go out of business in a second
if we loved who we are

My hair is the perfect color
I love my baby blue eyes
Yes, I can down a box of oreos.
And I love my thunder thighs

We come to peace when we understand
that societies image is far beyond strange
They may mold and sculpt are bodies
but true beauty, they can never change.

You are perfect the way you are.  Don't let anyone tell you different.
