I am
German
Why do you doubt me so?
Check my passport and my files
I am
German
Why do you say no?

I am
Jewish
But you do not doubt me so?
Check my passport and my files,
I am not
Jewish
Why do you say no?

I am
Human
Why do you treat me so?
Check my body and my blood,
I am
Human
I am
Human
I am
Human
Why do you say no?

The author's comments:
This poem is about how the German Jews were treated in the Holocaust. Even if you didn't consider yourself a Jew, you were arrested. I attend a yeshiva and the Holocaust is something that tends to come up.
