Used Lips
i’m not quite sure,
why i didn’t grasp her wrist
in search for a beat.
i just stood there,
solid cement bricks for our new house.
saliva trailing down her left cheek,
glue stuck.
i don’t think she noticed,
i was right there.
watching her shake out the last 2,
the last 2 butterflies.
the ones that gave her wings,
to fly up into the sky.
somehow, their wings got stuck,
and clogged up her throat.
i watched her overdose,
and choke to death.
truly, i didn’t want her to fly away,
fly away from me, us.
i could have plucked their wings off,
before she ate them.
but, i didn’t.
