When Truth Is Not Enough

Who can you trust
When doctors think you’re faking it
Who can you trust
When a detective won’t get to the bottom of it
Who can you trust
When mother thinks you’re made up of lies
Who can you trust
When getting to father takes too many tries
When a teacher thinks you’re a waste of time
When banks say they can’t give you a dime

Who can you trust
To listen to the truth,
To find the problem’s root

Is there anyone out there we can trust
To help us when things are unjust?

When you find someone, tell me
Because I bet they’re not from this world
Everyone thinks they can see
Everything behind this girl
So they never give me a chance
To create my life’s mural

I want to be on the side of success
Instead of a disgraceful mess

But when truth is not enough
Life gets that more tough
You become a diamond in the rough
Instead of the beauty with potential

Is there anyone out there we can trust
To help us when things are unjust?
