The Moon cries silver tears as she whispers goodbye
Her tears become stars to light the night sky
Up in the sky, separated from the world
Fighting the darkness, one lone warrior girl
Her tears for a love that was once lost
The Sun chose the day, not knowing the cost
He sentenced her to night, fighting alone
She could never return to her earthly home
He burned with anger for she was out of reach
Forever to gaze at, but never his to keep
Her face reflects the light that he throws
His only help in her fight becomes her glow
The closest they will ever get
Are the darkest days, on the solar eclipse
She reaches a hand and their fingers brush
But the Universe speeds them by in a rush
That one quick touch cools his rage
So he will not burn the world during the day
But once they pass, again she cries
And her tears help light the night sky
