Together we walked down that long, winding road
slow shuffling feet told us what we both knew
that this was it, the time for goodbye,
my heart couldn't take it the end was approaching too quickly, too soon.

We were finally there at our special place where the sun finely sat against the blue mountains face,
when that glint in your eye slowly faded to gray and your touch slowly cooled I was finally afraid,
But you sat down beside me and looked in my eyes and that was how I knew that everything was alright.

To twinkling stars soared another soul that night,
perhaps one like no other, full of laughter, full of love,
my heart will always hold that small wrinkled face filled with wisdom, filled with courage.
Together we walked down that long, winding road
slow shuffling feet told us what we both knew no matter where I go I will always love you.
