Burn Out and Fade Away
We all can’t just fade away
For there’s still time to burn
We must fight for another day.
Men at death’s door nod and say
That they can’t let the reaper turn
And they can’t just fade away.
The doctor standing over children with faces gray
Knows he must let them grow and learn
And must fight for them, for another day.
The sowing farmers know the way
That their towns and cities have great concern
And that they can’t just fade away.
Fighting against the enemy may
The soldiers know they have battles to earn
And the soldiers fight for another day.
The Fates stretch their threads, and they
Know those dying men will return
For those men just can’t fade away
And they will fight for another day.
