Favorite Quote:
i have a heartbeat, not like a comma, but like a period, one after another, set in succession on a page; each echoing a silent finality.

-- adapted from "the fountainhead"

like gnarled claws, the old ancient roots dig
into the dry dusty earth, grasping for
something hidden beneath the dead surface.
sturdy and strong, the trunk, gray bark as its
skin, stands still on the empty barren land.
it's twisting branches are arms greedily
reaching upwards to touch the glistening
stars of the velvety endless night sky.
as the frigid biting wind stirs the clouds
in the obsidian sky and rattles
the brittle leaves of the unyielding tree,
the first slivery snowflakes of winter
begin to descend on the frozen ground.
