"I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I have to go."
Theodore Roethke, "The Waking"

A parasitic illusion.
The fear of mediocrity
is fed by contribution

A fatal attraction.
It will kill me before
its own selfish satisfaction.

An uncontrollable desire.
This unsatisfiable desperation
rips through me like a fire.

A crumbling critic.
In my own self destruction
I myself have become acidic.

Be careful what you do.
Be careful what you say.
Be careful even who you listen to.

Because perfection is a disease.
A terrifying hallucination
Growing right inside of you.

Fueled by my infuriating and disastrous perfectionism.

I have to agree that the only thing that could have made this peice more captivating would be a better established rhythm. Besides that I love your beautiful word choice and rhyme and I loved it altogether

I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. -Audrey Hepburn

Wow, this is really fantastic...I found it to be sort of hauntingly beautiful, expressing your frustration in a very eloquent way. If I had to pick this apart, I would recommend counting the syllables in each line and trying to create some sort of pattern or rythm. I would love it if you would take a sec to read one of my poems!
