Light Hearts

October 20, 2008

It was a summer fling.
Light hearts.
Then silence.
I waited for you.
I knew you would come back.
And you did.
You came back.
We talked.
We laughed.
For me it was still summer.
Light hearts.
Your summer was over.
You so were different.
Serious, protective.
To you, I was yours.
To me, I belonged to the world.
My summer ended.
Heavy hearts.
I thought we could go back to before summer.
Things didn't have to be different.
But they were.
You said things I knew you didn't mean.
You talked behind my back like you didn't care.
I knew it was a mask.
A mask to hide your heavy heart.
