Brownies

They say that chocolate
makes you happy.
I eat a brownie.
It is soft,
warm,
and gooey.
For a while I work quietly,
neither gleeful
nor gloomy.
Then,
as it wears off,
my spirit
feels saddened
and I want more
brownies.
