Stifled

In the mornings when my cereal is made of pencil shavings,
the sky looks like a smear of blue marker,
and the rain comes down as thick as glue,
I wonder what to do.

The clods of flaxen swirl absently in the bowl
as my mind is pasted on the passive observation
of the blank paper land.
Sure to reprimand,

Anything I choose to do.
