Saviors

Music is her savior
It’s the reason she makes herself go home
To a drunken father and a mother in denial
She would play on her guitar to escape the pain
Music is her savior when she needs the most

School is her savior
It’s the reason she gets up each morning
To get a break from all the whippings
Her friends made her feel wanted, but they had no idea
School is her savior when she needs her friends

Church is her savior
It’s the reason she keeps faith
That she will make it out alive
The pastor said to come anytime at all if she needed to
Church is her savior when she ran away

The judge is her savior
He’s the reason she has a new family
To give her the love she needs
He took her abusers away to jail and gave her a new loving home
The judge is her savior when she took the stand

John Michael Carrol's debut song, Eliza Lies, inspired me to write this poem. Not everyone likes country music so I thought I would write this to get a similar message out there.
