And Now No More
The once busy street is empty now,
Before hectic shops, now clear.
Once in-love couple standing here,
And now no more than strangers, dear.
What was an empire now an island,
Before a dream and now a doubt.
Once an ocean, large and stout,
And now the ocean after drought.
What had been whole is now a half,
Before a heart and now a stone.
Once a body, strong and grown,
And now there’s nothing left but bone.
What was once mended now is broken,
Before alive and now no more.
Once everything that I had lived for,
And now poles apart than was before.
The once full goblet is now empty,
Before bravery, now fear.
Once in love and once sincere,
And now no more than strangers, dear.
