"The things that walk out when we open our minds." -Dylan McCoy

I'm entering a tunnel I don't understand
A tunnel leading to new things that aren't bland
It leads to a circus, a game of charades
And although great at first, the magic soon fades
The circus is evil, it's all secretly sick
The excitement is coming, it's making you tick
The acrobat falls, human pretzel melts
You're feeling new feelings that you've never felt
The lion is missing, people run about
An elephant stampedes them upon their way out
Why did my tunnel lead me to this, did I do something wrong?
I guess this is where God thought I'd belong
The Leander's king evil, his joker has a permanent frown
And instead of making us laugh, he's just bringing us down
They say I'm great for disappointment but I'm horrible with trust
Tell ten people a secret, then blame me when it busts
The tightrope's a serpent with a finger for an eye
He points it at me, and his finger starts to cry
I'm a large waste of space, I'm a member of the audience
I'm a detective proving you're a hypocrite. Evidence? I found a lot of it.
I'm writing this poem from the corner of my tunnel
It's hard to explain, I'm honest, not subtle
I'm sorry to admit that my circle is hollow
I guess I play a role but I'm not the best model
The clowns flower's on fire, it burns to the ground
It consumes our striped tent and spread flames all around
I get you don't like me because I "rotted you out"
Still, trust me, I'm loyal, but you? I doubt.

The author's comments:
This poem really expresses something I was afraid to tell a friend who's trust I lost for a stupid reason. I want people to know that just because someone doesn't trust you, it doesn't mean that you are untrustworthy.

I use a chaotic circus to describe my life, then address my betrayer for being upset for me when I, in fact, did not betray her. Sorry if its too confusing, I just really like circuses and tunnels as symbols and in general.

This is really good. I love the rhyming and allusions. Would you please rate/ comment on one of my poems, preferably "Points and Lines" or "Watching for  Daddy"?
