The Hammock

September 11, 2008
By Cheech Minniear, TMIS Iris Durfee, UT

Laughter echoes through the trees
Slowly

the hammock swings back and forth
We share untold tales
Silently

the hammock swings back and forth
Creating games about magic and faith
Trustfully

the hammock swing back and forth

The water rushes silently below us
Calmly

the hammock swings back and forth, back and forth
Our friendship hangs above us like a spider web
Peacefully

the hammock swings back and forth, back and forth

I lost
his laughter

his friendship

his love
Threateningly

the hammock swings back and forth
Our lives were woven together since the crimson sun shined on Earth
Sickeningly

the hammock swings back and forth
He vanished as quickly as the river flows
Eventually

the hammock stops swinging back and forth
And our friendship…

Slowly

Floats

Away…
