I remember Baghdad
I remember my mates
I remember pulling the trigger
And how I was so afraid that what I saw there would consume me
I remember the sounds of the screaming children
I remember shooting someone and watching their life disappear in seconds.
I remember watching them twitch and jerk out of existence.
Even though Baghdad is far behind me
I remember the explosions that light up the dark night sky and made the ground beneath my feet tremble with pain
But I know what I’ve done and seen… and it haunts me every night in my dreams
I remember Baghdad

I tried to put my self in the place of a hero who had just come back from Baghdad.... the book sunrise over fallujah inspired me.

Sorry, for not commenting on this sooner. For whatever reason but my forum page wasn't working. Anyways, now it does. I have to say that this is a huanting poem. Clever with the way you decided to use the perspective of a person who has witnessed such horror. I commend you for writing a poem like this. And how appropriate is it also that I'm reading this poem on Memorial Day? Ironic, isn't it?

Very nice! But I- to be honest met Iraqian friends at school...(I dont really know which side your on but its fine)  Just grammer errors but its very nice!

im not familiar with Baghad or those events, so this is quite new to me, I like the way you say what you say in simple terms

very, very good. you seriously should send this to the military. don't know how you would go about sending it. do some research (google xD) maybe fix some grammar before sending it in, but other than that it's great!
