Dream

Walking down the hallway
You’re actually here today
You meet me with a kiss
How can it get any better than this
Your hand pulls away from mine
Being away from you, I’m losing my mind
I watch you fade away
We’ll hurt him they say
I sit and plead for your life
I only succeed in that by giving up mine
I know you wouldn’t want me to
But I’d do anything for you
They bind my wrists
I wish they wouldn’t make you watch this
You scream and cry my name
Trying to plead your sentence the same
They laugh because they know
But you’ll do anything for them to let me go
I lay my head on the chopping block
I swear I can hear a clock
It’s only my heart beat
They’re being cruel, giving you a front row seat
You’re still on your feet
The sword holder taps his toe on the concrete
They give the okay
He swings the sword and begins to sway
I scream out I love you
They say you’re free to
Go wherever you please
You swear and you plead
But we all know this is the time
I won’t come back from the battle to be fine
You’re still watching
You’re launching
Toward me you soar
I look up at the sword
You’re held back and he swings
Just when I should hear the metal cling
I bolt upright in bed
Thank God, it was all in my head
