Trombone is the sweetest of all sounds,
Music that is made with mouth and hand,
Back and forth, the shiny slide rebounds.

The whimper of the puny flute is drowned,
Residing in the back row of the band,
Trombone is the sweetest of all sounds.

Heralding many a king to be crowned,
Always weary of bumping into the stand,
Back and forth, the shiny slide rebounds.

Producing a mood: dark, warm, and round,
The passion is heard, never a sound that is bland,
Trombone is the sweetest of all sounds.

The triumphant roar shakes the very ground,
Curves of metal birthing vibrations grand,
Back and forth, the shiny slide rebounds.

The sky is no limit, there are no bounds,
Over countless eras, the instrument spanned,
Trombone is the sweetest of all sounds,
Back and forth, the shiny slide rebounds.

After learning about villanelles, I wrote this. It is a very fun challenge to write a poem within the rules of a villanelle.
