Nancy Wake, a woman so bright
Who shone like the stars through the dark nights.
She was a hero with a voice so true
She helped form the lives of me and you
She showed us all what we could be
Though many were blinded and could not see
Through the horrors of death and demise, she stood tall
When no one else would, she answered the call
When the Germans took and burned and stole
And everyone else began to fall into a deep dark hole
Nancy kept going and never once backed down
She would not stop until we were all safe and sound
Nancy wake, a woman so bright
Who shone like the stars through the dark nights
She was a hero with a voice so true
She helped form the lives of me and you
She showed us all what we could be
Though many were blinded and could not see
Through Death, Freedom, Imprisonment, and Love
She was the sign of peace just like a dove
Though I am just below a zero,
I want to be like Nancy Wake,
A true…True Hero.

The author's comments:
I was inspired to write this in my eight period language arts class when I was told to do a project relating to the holocaust with my group members, who happen to be my best friends. We chose to do our project on Nancy Wake, a spy for the good guys in world war two. This is the poem I wrote for an extra to add to our report.
