Empty Boat

By , Clarksville, MD
I plunge into the depths of that icy blue sea
The color of your blank eyes
Staring back at me
The choppy water in which you fell
Swirling dangerously
All around me
In this empty boat
Empty of you empty of me
There's a dead weight at the bottom
But it is neither you nor is it me
But rather it is our ghosts
Ghosts of us
Ghosts of ourselves
That we left behind
I remember calling for help
But none came
Now it seems like ages ago
And now the two of us just drift away
Wash away
Waste away
In this empty boat
Empty of you empty of me
