Today I’m sitting alone
Waiting by the phone
I shouldn’t have been so stupid
To hurt you this way
I should’ve read between the lines
Not been so wrapped up in my pride
I need to get out
Go for a walk
Just to make sure I can still breathe
I have to know if I’m still alive
The moment you left me
Everything inside me died
I should’ve read between the lines
Not been so wrapped up in my pride
I need to get out
Go for a walk
Just to make sure I can still breathe
I have to know I’m still alive
I should’ve said what you needed to hear
Should’ve been there to catch all your falling tears
I should’ve never been so stupid
To hurt you this way
Now I’m sitting alone
Waiting by the phone
Praying inside
You’ll pick up and call
The moment I met you I became alive
Now everything inside me has died
I need to get out
Go for a walk
Just to make sure I can breathe
I have to know I’m still alive
The moment you left
Yeah the moment that door shut
Everything inside me died
It was then I realized
How much I’d hurt you
By never saying what you needed to hear
Never being there to catch all your falling tears
Now I’m sitting here alone
Waiting by the phone
Dying even more inside
Praying that you’ll call
I need to get out
Go for a walk
Just to make sure I can still breathe
I have to know I’m still alive
Damnit I should’ve been there
To catch your tears
Should’ve said what you needed to hear
Should’ve read between the lines
Shouldn’t have cared about my pride
Now I’m sitting here alone
Waiting by the phone…

I was trying to figure out what guys felt when they were in love with a girl and she ends up leaving them. I ended up talking to one of my exs that I left and he told me exactly how it felt which inspired me to write this piece
