She has a mark on her back
From when she was three
She was jumping and climbing
And fell out of a tree
It’s grown and its scarred
And it hurts at the touch
So she won’t let me hug her
Because it pains her too much

She has a scar on her wrist
From when she was fifteen
When I asked why she had it
She told me people are mean
It’s solemn and dark
Not many know that it’s there
Because she covers it up
Worried someone would care

She has a scar on her mind
From when she moved out
She cries late at night
Her hope becomes doubt
She’s bitter and lonely
But she has come so far
And I’m so captivated
By the girl with the scars.
