True Love

By
Once upon a time,
I saw you in the dark.
You threw rocks at my window
And sang like a meadow lark.

My heart, it opened to you
And you filled it with true love.
Yet when it came down to it,
You just wanted all my hugs.

But now I’m
Giving you up,
Taking it back.
You know I don’t love you,
It’s all in the past.
Sometimes I have doubts and
I’m sure you do too.
Let’s get on with our lives,
No more “I love you”s.

I’m sick of tryin’ to impress you;
It’s too hard to make it right.
I don’t wanna think about you
When I’m lyin’ in bed at night.

I’m sure you meant it once,
When you said “I love you too.”
But all our love is gone;
There’s no more just us two.

So now I’m
Giving you up,
Taking it back.
You know that I don’t love you,
It’s all in the past.
Sometimes I have doubts and
I’m sure you do too.
Let’s get back to our lives,
No more “I love you”s.

When I saw you in the hall and
Your eyes opened up wide,
I knew you changed your mind so maybe
We’ll give it another try

Now I’m
Giving it up,
Taking you back.
You know that I love you,
It’s back from the past.

I’m gi-ving it up,
[Giving it up]
I’m ta-king you back.
[Taking you back]
I’ll love you forever,
Don’t put us in the past.

I’ll love you forever,
No living in the past.
I’ll love you forever,
True love’s not going back.
