What Would YOU Know?
Sleeping in the corners of my heart,
In the furthest recesses of my mind;
That’s where you’ll find the darkest part
Of my innermost psyche.
It’s the part of me that no person sees,
This wretched chasm that nothing can fill.
I’m kneeling on my hands and knees.
Could this really be God’s will?
But you wouldn’t know all this about me.
All you know is what you can see.
You can’t resonate with my soul;
You can’t make my empty heart full.
Nothing can truly erase the pain.
Shame compounds deep upon shame.
The stir of echoes fills my head,
The absent voices of the dead.
But no one being can seem to change
This stagnant fury and deadly rage.
But you wouldn’t know all this about me.
All you know is what you can see.
The lies and fibs fill me up with sadness.
There’s no place to escape the madness.
I’m left with nothing else to say.
I go through the motions every day.
All the riches of this miserable Earth
Can’t seem to give me a sense of worth.
Fading deep into the black abyss,
I fall into my nothingness.
But you wouldn’t know all this about me.
All you know is what you can see.
