Man and Child

We love as man and child
You must show me the way
When night falls
You must teach this
innocent child
About the language of linen
A soul’s flame that does not rest
And the marriage of skin and moon
And should evil strike
Should tears mar a wee lover’s face

His silent blessing
From lips of coral silk
Nothing is as warm and soft
when it is bare
against the chill
of the night
as a noble knight.
Father,
you have never been so sweet
as when you awaken in the flesh of lover.
