Go Saint!
I got in my position
Making an outstanding play in the field
I catch the ball
The player is out
The crowd is clapping and cheering
There’s a lump in my throat
A knot in my stomach
It’s my time at bat
I put on my helmet, picking up the bat
My team is cheering
“Esther you got this”
My parents are cheering
The crowd is cheering
It’s the last inning
The score is 12 to 11
I walk up to the plate saying under my breath
“I have to hit the ball”
The pitcher pitches
I miss the ball, strike one
My coach say “Hit the ball”
The pitcher pitches the ball again
This time I hit the ball
I run as fast as I can
And make it second base
The ref says “safe”
One of my team players is up to bat
She hits the ball in the field
She is running, I am running
She made a run, I made a run
The score is 14 to 11
The game is over
We high five, hugging each other in joy
The team lines up
Slapping hands and saying “good game!”
