A Boy Rested

By
A boy rested
in neglect
upon a bed
in a fancy hotel
miles away from
home.
A runaway,
he cared not for
his family who
had so long ago
forgotten him.
The teen
awoke
suddenly from
a nightmare.
The same one
he had had
since his
one
true
love
had been
murdered
years before.
The boy
silently
cried as he was
reminded
of those dreadful
days so full
of despair.
He cried his
heart to pieces,
turning to
prayer.
And his prayers
were answered.
An angel flew
into his
window
leading
to a balcony
overlooking
the glow of
the city.
The angel was
breathtakingly
beautiful.
She stole
his broken heart,
and mended it with
hers; giving
him warmth,
giving him
strength,
and giving him
confidence.
She was there
for him.
He spoke to
her, shyly at
first, but more
and more,
and soon,
they were
sharing
laughter,
secrets.
Their new and
growing love
melted together,
intermingling with
a passion fit to last
an eternity.
Soon though,
she rose, sighing,
claiming she had
to leave.
They kissed,
exchanging souls,
confirming their
now
unbreakable love.
Then she
disappeared.
The next night was the same,
and was the
next,
but the one after,
his angel did
not appear.
He waited until the seasons ran dry, but never
did she come.
But then,
he was visited
by yet another
angel, one who regretfully
informed him that
his angel
was forever lost.
Her spirit was destroyed,
murdered,
by Satan himself.
Crestfallen,
the angel left, seemingly weighted by emotions of thick and unbearable sadness.
He left the boy in agonizing despair.
He screamed and choked, losing all sanity. Head pounding, he went to the balcony and stood on its edge. He shrieked his curses
to hell,
when he saw God open the gates of heaven unto him. He strode boldly into the horizon, flying freely to paradise, but he never made it.
Unearthly claws
raked at him from
below.
He slowly came to a stop, then fell hopelessly, plummeting
downward to
death.
A deep crackle
of laughter
was heard as
the devil
watched him
from his dungeon
of magma.
The earth split open, revealing
a burning pit of
hell below,
before swallowing him in a cloud of
heat and evil.
Shrieks of dismay
rang from the
valleys of heaven
as angels looked
on with a
fiery hate in
their eyes.
The gates of
heaven closed
hastily,
and sunk into a
dark shadow,
no longer
in a gleam
of happiness.
Yet again
had the
accursed
Satan claimed
another life.
The floodgates
then opened, and
the rains fell,
tears of the Lord
for souls of the
lost.
When the sun’s
rays beat down
upon the scene
the next
morning,
police found the twisted and mangled body of a
tearstained boy,
lying
on the sidewalk
below
the balcony
where tears were shed, and a never
forgotten
love was shared.
