Cupcake

March 8, 2008
By Anonymous

Severely painted
Fed well from chunky batter, burnt in the tin from which it came
Mumu-ed crinkled paper contained
Overflowing

Muffin Top
Stretch marks covered over by layers of frosted red
Red-brown skin speckled with tidbits of vanilla-white
Layers and layers of caked-on frosted red
Pasty

Dry
Creviced texture, confetti of colour seep through its faults
To bite in, to deceive of good taste
It tastes of cheap, superficial sweet
Whatever was good, has now faded
Nasty aftertaste

The sort of cupcake that has been in display way too long
Captures glance but alas, omission
Painted and re-painted - ready to be tossed
