Heaven Awaits

A screaming
clock brings
me back to
the living.
Shouting, ordering
commanding. Come
to the light. I slam
my fist on the
cold surface.
Begging for just
a bit more
time
of darkness.
Not yet finished
with my life
in the shadows.
Not until after
I say
my goodbyes; Do I
close my eyes
and allow
myself to step
into the
light,
opening
the golden gates
of Heaven.
