Prelude to Thunderstorms

July 7, 2008
By Marissa Vicich, Oglesby, IL

Hot.
Sticky.

Nothing moves—
—there’s not a sound.
Not bird nor bug
would interrupt
the calm before the
STORM.

Crash.
Bang.

You light up the sky.
It’s all beginning…
A glow in the distance
serves as a subtle warning
of what is to come.
